WATCH: TSM Doublelift Compares His Abilities To The Other Rift Rivals AD Carries

The combination of Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng and Rift Rivals – League of Legends most infamous trash talker and a tournament designed for that sole purpose – was only ever going to end one way.

Speaking after Team SoloMid’s victory over Immortals in Week 5 of the NA LCS, Doublelift was quizzed on his predictions for the forthcoming tournament between EU and NA, with particular emphasis on his perceived strength in the AD carry position.

Doublelift has never been a player lacking in confidence, adding the word “trash” to the active vocabulary of the North American scene with confident remarks about his rivals.

The AD carry matchups set to be featured at the tournament have been one of the most anticipated aspects of the event, with the likes of Doublelift, Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi, Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen and Martin “Rekkles” Larsson all preparing to showcase their prowess in the role.

Doublelift was characteristically unfazed by the level of competition he would be facing up against:

“Rekkles is a pretty good example – even Zven I know, he was very hyped up, is getting very similar treatment, he just plays meta and can’t really have a huge game impact – but Rekkles, Fnatic play so much around him.

“It’s all about him split pushing, he’ll have a three level lead on the enemy AD carry, always farming and then going carry build with like Frozen Mallet third item because he has such a big gold lead… I mean I invented that playstyle so it’s going to be free.”

Fnatic and Team SoloMid are the most likely candidates to reach the Rift Rivals final, where the skills of Rekkles and Doublelift will be put to the test.

Rekkles has forged a unique playstyle within the EU LCS – though Doublelift may contest that claim – blowing away his regional rivals with his notorious Kennen and Tristana play.

Doublelift has spent the majority of the NA LCS as part of the Team SoloMid experiment, taking a back seat as the roster trial a range of new strategies. Moving into Rift Rivals Doublelift will hoping to move towards more hyper carries to display his dominance.

“It’s just boring dude, farming for like 50 minutes. I think the best teams in the world, they know how to play fast, and they’ll just punish that.

“Set up vision and then close out the game within 30 minutes, that’s the style that we are aiming towards.

“In terms of the regional parity, I think we have an advantage, but Fnatic are on an upswing to compensate for G2.

“I’m pretty confident I’m the best AD carry heading to Rift Rivals.”
