A lot changes in football, and a lot changes quickly; in the space of a week Gianluigi Donnarumma has gone from the golden boy of football’s future and the cornerstone of AC Milan’s resurrection, to the most hated man in Milan.

Mino Raiola’s pesky influence upon his clients has reached new levels, with 18-year-old Donnarumma letting the Milan hierarchy know of his intentions to reject all new contract offers, with the aim of leaving for cheap this summer, or for free next.

The 18-year-old had fake money thrown at him during Italy’s Under-21 European Championship opener against Denmark. However, Raiola is insisting that the boyhood AC Milan supporter’s decision is not about money.

“The situation had become too violent and hostile, so there was no way out.

“We took a decision that we didn’t want to take.

“It was nothing to do with money. We were threatened. Donnarumma’s family was threatened, both with not playing anymore and threatened with death. You can’t keep a player by threatening him.

“Now there is a genuine risk he could miss a year. His quality makes that improbable, but this is already on the verge of bullying.

“We never even got to talk about money or release clauses, because we were not allowed to get that far, nor to think of what was best for Gigio.

Mino Raiola

Raiola is the king of the agents, and whatever the rules and regulations say, agents rule football, the governing bodies and FIFA, UEFA & co only have themselves to blame.

And just to fully demonstrate that the footballing world is Raiola’s puppet, a random show of support from the his client, and the world’s most expensive and high profile footballer, Paul Pogba, appeared – despite the Frenchman’s affinity to Juventus.
