Chelsea in for Adama Traore (because that makes sense)

Last week, Chelsea represented an episode of Love Island; chaos, uncertainty and lots of in-fighting. However, one week on, and it appears Antonio Conte is set to sign a new deal with the Blues, and Roman Abramovich is ready to rubber stamp a few transfer deals.

With Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, free agent, Willy Cabellero and Juventus’ Alex Sandro all set to become Blues players in the next week or two, another name has cropped up.

And it’s a surprising one.

Conte is believed to be interested in the most frustrating player in the Premier League last season; Middlesbrough’s, Adama Traore.

When Aston Villa secured the £8million winger from Barcelona, there was belief it could end up being a real coup. However, with back-to-back relegations, and countless failed crosses, that belief has subsided quite dramatically.

However, Chelsea’s interest does perhaps make sense, if Conte is considering using the 21-year-old in the wing-back position – although replacing Victor Moses with a less consistent version of Victor Moses doesn’t seem sensible.

Traore’s ability to dribble with the ball, all whilst evading challenges, was often dubbed the best in the Premier League. And perhaps under a hard task master, like Conte, the Spaniard will be able to fine tune that end product part of his game.

It’s important to note, though, that these rumours emerged from Sport – a Spanish publication. With Barcelona no doubt having some form of vested interest in their former player, and certainly with a buy-back clause in place. Therefore, it would suit the Catalan giants perfectly for the winger to thrive at the Premier League champions.
