WATCH: Ernie Els nails a slam dunk from way outside the 3-point line

The Quicken Loans National leaderboard had it all, rookies, veterans and guys outside the top 500. Bill Hurley III clinched victory by three shots after an impressive display on his local course. The 34-year-old spent his college days across the road at the United States Naval Academy and was a crowd favourite all week.

Behind him was Vijay Singh looking to become the oldest PGA Tour winner in history, closely followed by John Rahm who was making his professional debut. The Spaniard turned pro after finishing high amateur at last week’s U.S. Open. He was leading for most of the tournament before he shanked a tee shot during his third round, perhaps feeling the pressure as he was pursued by an experienced pack.

Ernie Els finished 5th with a performance nobody expected. He was 2nd in total putting throughout the week, making his tragic 6-putt during the Masters look like a distant memory. It’s great to see the Big Easy playing well.

Tiger Woods was watching from the sidelines dressed in his traditional Sunday reds. His immediate future remains in doubt with the player unlikely to see action this year.
