WATCH: Bubba Watson shocks Jason Day with a 377-yard drive to the green

“I’ll try hitting it into your group again!” Bubba shouted at a visibly stunned Jason Day. Bubba had blistered his tee shot on the 377-yard, par-4 third, driving it to eight feet and causing Jason Day to shake his head in disbelief. Bubba would go on to miss the eagle putt, leaving a birdie tap-in.

Bubba continued to power his way round the front nine, playing in a very “unlinks” fashion – that is flying the ball to the hole with a high trajectory.

He slotted 5 birdies during the first 7 holes, but then found the bunker at the famous Postage Stamp.

This “small but mighty” par-3 was where Rory McIlroy took 6 shots to get out of the green-side bunker. Bubba was forced to walk off with a triple-bogey six. That’s links golf baby.

Patrick Reed leads after slotting a gorgeous eagle from distance. Here’s how they stand.
