WATCH: Tour golfer celebrates win with a downed beer and a football chant

Joost Luiten was given the Andrew “Beef” Johnston treatment after winning the KLM Dutch Open

This was BEEF earlier in the year when he kept his promise to get hammered after his first professional win. Now it’s the turn of Dutch golfer Joost Luithen. Would this happen on the PGA TOUR? Certainly not.

Background to the chant:

To those of you across the pond who don’t know: meet this year’s biggest chant.

Adapted from the 90s pop song ‘Freed from Desire’ by Gala, this chant focuses on the exploits of footballer Will Griggs – or soccer player to those who are slow .

Grigg’s 28 goals in League One this season helped Wigan return to the Championship after just one season in the third tier of English football. He is a hero to Wigan fans and now a household name thanks to a summer in France with the Northern Ireland team.

The chant has been perfectly adapted and recycled for golfer Joost Luiten. The Dutchman was joined by groundskeepers in the maintenance shed at Kennemer Golf & Country Club, Holland, as he celebrated his 5th professional win.

Joost shot a final round 63 to lift his national trophy for the second time.

Creative chanting is something of a European past time, as you will see at any Ryder Cup. Hopefully we will be met by something other than “U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A” at Hazeltine this year?

I mean come on guys, that’s literally the most unimaginative chant known to man. Put your heads together and come up with something lyrical.
