Jordan Spieth reveals his surprising strategy for 2017

Jordan Spieth’s winning strategy for the next PGA Tour season? Surprisingly, to play less golf.

After having the season of his life in 2015, Spieth opened 2016 as one of the most coveted players on Tour. He traveled all around the world, playing in five tournaments in five different countries from November 2015 to January 2016 and went to Asia twice in a three month span.

Even though Spieth played in less events than the year before, and some could say he had a disappointing year (two wins and a choke at the Masters), he has a plan to rise to the top once more.

“I just wanted an offseason. I needed some time off,” Spieth told Golf.com.

Spieth told us last Winter that he was tired and worn down. Plus a two week off season is not much time to recover from an intense year.

“We’ll just see how it goes from there. I might do more, but I want to take it slow and see what happens. I’ve just got to do what I did in 2015.”

He has committed to the Australian Open and Tiger’s Hero World Challenge, but after that his schedule is unknown.

Traveling less and playing more in the States. This is the winning formula Spieth hopes to recreate and we can only sit back and hope for it too.
