Are we giving Jimmy Walker the credit he deserves?

In 2016, we talked a boatload about Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and of course Tiger Woods– and for good reason. But we neglect to mention the field guys, especially Jimmy Walker.

Here’s why we should be talking about Jimmy.

18 at Kingston Heath. 4 iron knock down.

Right off the bat, his swing is gorgeous. The man has possibly the sneakiest drive on TOUR. Jimmy’s real talent appears on the green though, where he putts like he was born with a Scotty Cameron handy. On top of that, he plays smart and will take a safe par over a gutsy bogey. Walker’s golf game isn’t exactly the most exciting on TOUR but if I want action, I’ll watch the new XXX movie. Plus, he actually does something with that beautiful swing.

Since 2014, Jimmy Walker claimed victory in 6 events, including the PGA Championship last year. The Championship signaled his first major victory. In 2015, he won the Sony Open in Hawaii by 9 strokes and shot -23. The 9 stroke victory took the cake for largest margin of victory that year.

To add the cherry on top, Jimmy Walker currently leads the SBS Tournament of Champions. He’s been a Ryder Cup team member since 2014, so I don’t know how else he can improve his resume. Except…..

Off the course, Walker kills it just as well. In his spare time, he takes astrophotography pictures, which I didn’t even know existed as a hobby. If you look at this picture he took and don’t drop your jaw, I don’t know what to tell you.

Do we need more evidence for Jimmy Walker’s awesomeness? I agree that he should not be placed on the same pedestal as Eldrick or Rory, but he should at least make the top ten currently on TOUR.

Can’t wait to see what he does in 2017; rock on Jimmy, run like the dark horse you are.
