David Leadbetter: No way Tiger Woods is breaking Jack Nicklaus’ record!

David Leadbetter is in India, living that international life of privilege that comes with being a (supposedly) top golf instructor.

This week, the reptilian Jos. A. Bank pitchman took a break from peddling his latest pageturner, The A Swing, to open a David Leadbetter Golf Academy at the Oxford Golf Resort for the good people of Pune. Leadbetter, now fired by his former top pupil, Lydia Ko, has taken a page out of Hank Haney’s book to remain relevant (no, not the odious Big Miss): Talking about Tiger Woods. Hopefully responding to a question about the 14-time major winner, Leadbetter commented

“Everybody asks will we see the old Tiger. Well you won’t.”

Leadbetter went further:

“Personally, I don’t think he is going to break Jack Nicklaus’s record. If he wins one more Major, it will be a tremendous feat.”

So there you have it, mark the massacrer of the swings of Michelle Wie and Lydia Ko down for one more major for Woods…maybe, but nowhere near 18.
