If you’re a card-carrying member of the “Obama plays too much golf” camp, we’re serving this tasty news item up to you on a Ponderosa buffet plate.
So, now that his time has drawn to a close, how much golf did President Barack Obama play during his eight years in office? Drumroll please!
44th President of the United States, Barack Obama played 306 rounds of golf during his time in the White House.
For the sake of comparison, Woodrow Wilson played 1,200 rounds during his sting and Dwight Eisenhower played 800. However, Obama’s total was more than either George W. Bush or Bill Clinton.
Which is as an appropriate segue as any to…
Anyway, Barry O’s 306 rounds across eight years is an average of more than 38 per year. This, as Golf Digest points out, is well above the national average of rounds played per year of 19.3 (according to the National Golf Foundation).
Interestingly/wisely, President Barack Obama averaged 47.5 rounds per year between 2013 and 2016, you know, after he’d been re-elected and couldn’t be fired. The Commander-in-Chief had averaged just 27 rounds in previous years.
Of course, there’s some doubt about where Mr. Obama will play his post-presidency golf, as members at his preferred club have made a bit of a stink.
Regardless, the question becomes, over/under 70 rounds in 2017 for the former Leader of the Free World?
