Paved By Steve: Team Liquid Moves Esports Industry Forward With New Facility

Team Liquid has unveiled plans for an expansive eSports facility that will serve as the headquarters for their eSports teams in North America.

Team Liquid co-CEO, Steve “LiQuiD112” Arhancet, showcased the organization’s new eSports facility in an impressive promotional video, detailing the plans for the building and the philosophy behind the decision to invest in a common space for their teams and different organizational branches.

Currently under construction, the facility will eventually house both of Team Liquid’s primary North American eSports teams, League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Both teams will have areas to scrim and expansive areas – to be known as war rooms – in which to review footage or watch events.

The building will have its own cafeteria for the organization’s in-house chef, space for Team Liquid’s production team, 1UP Studios, to interview, edit and brainstorm new ideas for content, as well as administrative offices. With everything included, the facility will be the largest of its kind in NA.

On the heels of the North American League of Legends Championship Series franchising announcement, the decision for eSports organizations to create permanent workspaces is a natural progression. With the high amount of capital being invested into these organizations, separating a work space from a personal space is a big step in the professionalization of the industry.

With the large amounts of capital being invested into these organizations, separating a workspace from a personal space is a big step in the professionalization of the industry.

Arhancet highlighted the importance of this when explaining the philosophy behind the decision:

“We’re levelling up the traditional model of the gaming house.”

“The new Team Liquid Headquarters in Los Angeles will be a customised player training facility and office work space representing the next evolution of infrastructure for esports – a benefit for all of our ten teams.

“Our new HQ makes a statement about the culture of our organisation and the influence of our ownership group, aXiomatic.

“Player well-being is essential and the new space will not only be an effective work environment but promote a healthier lifestyle and cross-pollination among teams.”

With the announcement of their new facility, Team Liquid have set the standard that other eSports organizations must look to follow.

While not the first to create a separate workspace for their teams, Team Liquid has created a blueprint that other organizations can look to as the eSports industry continues to progress and evolve.

After leading the way in areas such as sponsorship and investment, Team Liquid has once again proven themselves to be a trailblazer in eSports.

Their actions will help to propel the industry forward into a new era of legitimacy and professionalism, and the creation of their new NA eSports facility is a major step forward.
