Transfer insanity: Diafra Sakho left in the lurch by West Ham

West Ham United striker, Diafra Sakho, is at a loss following a desperate attempt to leave the east London club.

Like any other self-respecting, half decent footballer would, the Senegalese is trying to get away from the Hammers in any way he can.

So, naturally, he tried to buy himself out of his own contract. But the fella is no Neymar and heartbreakingly couldn’t afford to do so. It’s like when your card gets declined, but for several million.

Sakho didn’t let this – or West Ham’s insistence that he’s not going anywhere – stop him, however.

Setting up a medical at the French League 1 club, Rennes, he persevered with his great escape from east London.

So having passed the medical and getting into the clear, the two clubs reportedly agreed a £9 million deal that was comprised of £4 million up front and £5 million in add-ons.

Sadly for Sakho, it didn’t end there.

Oh, no. Crystal Palace then made things a bit difficult by expressing their interest in the 27-year-old and this led to the West Ham co-owner, David Gold, tweeting: “Diafra Sakho is not for sale in this transfer window he is an integral part of our first team squad and will play a part in our recovery.”

This is the man who once spelt the bloke’s name ‘Saxho’.

In fact, Sakho is such an “integral part” of West Ham’s squad that he was told that he’s not favoured over both Michail Antonio and Andre Ayew, who are not strikers like Sakho is. Bizarre.

And, on top of that, he hasn’t started a single Premier League match for the Hamsters all season.

Absolutely integral, clearly.

No wonder Sakho wants out. As if playing at the London Stadium wasn’t bad enough, this lad isn’t even getting any game time.

Will Sakho break free from West Ham? Only time will tell. But let’s hope so, the poor bloke will go insane if not.
