As we make our way towards the top 50, it will be interesting to uncover which players have been completely overrated by EA for this year’s game.
60) David Luiz : 86 -> 85
Remarkable how much David Luiz improved his defensive game under Antonio Conte.
— MHB (@LasaetaRubia9) August 6, 2017
While much improved in Antonio Conte’s system, the Chelsea man is not a better defender than the likes of Andrea Barzagli. Still, 85 is a solid rating, and it doesn’t really matter what rating the Brazilian is on FIFA, he’s always over-powered.
59) Sergio Busquets : 86 -> 86
Barcelona’s anchor. Interestingly though, EA has only given his card a 79 passing rating; harsh.
58) James Rodriguez : 86 -> 86
A very shrewd signing by Bayern Munich. The Colombian deserves his 86 rating.
57) Toby Alderweireld : 86 -> 86
Alderweireld best cb in the league tho

The Spurs man has been fantastic since his move. Should any defenders in the Premier League be higher rated than the Belgian? It would be tough to argue.
56) Karim Benzema : 86 -> 86
Not his best season last year, but everyone knows what the Frenchman is capable of when he isn’t messing around with Franck Ribery on international duty.
55) Cesc Fabregas : 86 -> 85
While still a great player, Fabregas isn’t as effective as he once was. Too many appearances from the bench to warrant an 86 rating.
54) Isco : 86 -> 86
If kante is higher rated than isco on FIFA 18 I'm not buying it
— Mateo⚡️ (@PurelyModric) September 8, 2017
Magical. Isco will once again be one of Real Madrid’s best players this season.
53) Harry Kane : 86 -> 85
A great forward, but level with Benzema? Not yet. Kane must add more to his game to reach that level.
52) Alex Sandro : 86 -> 86
The Brazilian defender is certainly worthy of having his name amongst the game’s other great fullbacks.
51) Philippe Coutinho : 86 -> 85
Besides proving himself to be a liar this summer, Coutinho isn’t and never has been Liverpool’s most important player. Since his links to Barcelona, fans of all clubs have been overrating the Brazilian; a great player, but, Sadio Mane is Liverpool’s most important man.
50) Radja Nainggolan : 86 -> 87
Nainggolan is 10 times the player Rakitic is. He would be an amazing imorovment for us. Of course Verratti is my priority though.
— G. De ara Torres (@dearatorres) July 13, 2017
One of the best players on FIFA and a complete all-rounder. Radja Nainggolan would transform any team that he signs for – Barcelona’s stubbornness continues as they focus solely on attack.
49) Dries Mertens : 86 -> 87
28 goals and 9 assists in 28 starts last season – but given Mertens ability to make things from nothing, it’s not even a surprise. Deserving of his big upgrade.
48) Romelu Lukaku : 86 -> 85
Jose Mourinho’s new man continues to show why Chelsea were wrong to let him go. It’s close, but 85 feels a more realistic rating.
47) Thomas Muller : 86 -> 86
Muller is coming off an underwhelming season by his standards, but should the German be downgraded? Surely not.
46) Samir Handanovic : 87 -> 87
Say hi to Oblak and Handanović https://t.co/F9leM6HA4c
— Paracelsus (@DoctorDrugFree) May 31, 2017
Appropriate name for a goalkeeper. Inappropriate timing to be at your peak at the same time that Jan Oblak is also around.
45) Andres Iniesta : 87 -> 88
No idea why Barcelona were actively trying to replace this man in the summer. Iniesta could dominate La Liga at 36, never mind 33. FIFA 18 needs to do more to ensure that those players who are more technical than fast/strong have a more noticeable advantage.
44) Ivan Rakitic : 87 -> 86
A great player, but not quite on Iniesta’s level, yet. Once again though, no need to replace – why was Coutinho needed?
43) David Silva : 87 -> 88
Graeme Souness on David Silva: "Nine times out of 10, he delivers the right pass with the right weight on it.” pic.twitter.com/JAAS89MYsy
— Squawka News (@SquawkaNews) March 6, 2017
The Manchester City magician deserves an even higher rating on FIFA; unrivalled in the weight of a pass.
42) Gerard Pique : 87 -> 86
Perhaps an 87 if you consider the Spaniard’s ability on the ball / going forward – but we don’t need that for a centrehalf. 86 will do.
41) Marek Hamsik : 87 -> 87
Marek Hamsik is another really underrated player. He is so good. A real classy operator.

The king of Slovakia. The Napoli man will soon find himself in the Premier League if he continues his form into this season.
